As Cold as Ice

Updated: Mar 24, 2019

As expected, there was snow everywhere and it really was freezing!! When we arrived in Iceland, I didn't actually feel too bad and I wasn't as wrapped up as I could have been. This gave me hope for the week that I'd be able to cope, especially knowing I'd brought about ten layers and a scarf, hat and gloves with me!

When I was walking to the top of Skogafoss waterfall, it definitely kept me warm walking up those steps but as you wandered the black sand beaches it was certainly uncomfortable. The coldest part of the trip was going to Gulfoss Waterfall as nothing can describe the bitterness of the wind there. It actually gave me brain freeze and whilst I would have wanted to enjoy the scenery more, I had to get a quick picture and go!

I was lucky I came prepared with so many layers and I'm definitely glad that I bought a thermal top. If I could give any advice to anyone it would be to definitely listen to what everyone tells you and take as many layers as possible!
