Golden Circle

Updated: Mar 24, 2019

I don't feel like we visited as many places as I was expecting to on the Golden Circle Trip. In fact, it should have been called the Golden Triangle! Gulfoss Waterfall was incredible but extremely windy! It was so bitterly cold that we couldn't stay down at the waterfall for long so it was really good that they had a cafe available on the site. We decided to get a hot chocolate here to warm up so it was perfect for what we needed.

The geysers were breathtaking and a very unusual thing to see. The main one shot up every 5-10 minutes so we waited around to get the perfect video of it. There was a lot of people here and as you have to wait for the geyser to erupt, the visitors do stay in the same place for a long time. This made it harder to get a picture of the site as there were big groups, right up to the barrier around it. This required there to be an onsite attraction as if the geyser was the only thing to see, people would be queuing for hours to get near the front. There was a large cafe here with a shop which I thought was perfect for the site and nature of the attraction.

The national park we visited on the way back was gorgeous and had lovely scenery. Again, there were toilets at this site but you had to pay for them which I thought was a bit harsh! As we didn't have too long here, we decided not to walk all the way round which I would liked to have done.
