
After being told constantly about the ludicrous expense in Iceland I was surprisingly impressed when I was there. Whilst it is quite expensive for what you are getting and no b&m or poundland to fall back on, the prices aren't that different from some places here. I think of it as treating yourself to a Starbucks or Miller & Carter for example every day. So whilst it is not what you'd normally spend each week in the UK, it wasn't as extortionate as I was expecting and was actually purposely trying to get rid of my krona towards the end of the week! The most expensive thing to buy was definitely drinks as I spent all of my money on the last night in the Kiki Queer Bar. A problem also was trying to work out the value of each item as the Icelandic Krona is confusing but when it was easy when I worked it out to how much I had taken with me. I can imagine I would have spent a lot more money though had I gone out with my partner instead and wanted to have a meal out and drinks every night. It was also nice not having to worry about any of the trips as they were all paid for in advance.
